The racing was pulsating for this National B race at Somersham in Suffolk. Depending on who was in a break up the road the bunch would either be sitting up at under 20mph or chasing it down at over 30mph. Mix in a 5% climb followed by a nasty cross-headwind, and it all made for uncomfortable riding. Early in the race I was involved in some mini-breakaways myself; these felt great but were of course all in vain. I eventually couldn't stay with the bunch on the climb to the finish area, getting dropped after 7 laps out of 11.
