UK Crime Maps for England and Wales

Crime maps for England and Wales are now available at www.police.uk. All you have to do is enter your postcode. There is also a version for the Met Police: maps.met.police.uk.

In the early days of this service you may have to be patient, as it appears to be suffering the same high-demand fate as the online census data service.

The data, which is supposed to show highly specific crime rates, is based on data collected within the data.gov.uk initiative. The datasets for the police.uk initiative are available, in zip format, at http://www.police.uk/data.
