Preview of the Iceni Velo CX on Jan 19, 2020

Location: Ada Cole Avenue, Snetterton, Norwich NR16 2LP, UK

Plans are firming up for Iceni Velo's annual cyclo-cross event at World Horse Welfare! The 2020 edition (part of the Eastern CX League's 2019/20 calendar) is sponsored by First Self Drive, a car & van hire company in Norwich. I cycled down to the venue today, in suitably miserable weather, and had a look around to check that we will be able to lay out the course as planned.

As in recent years, the course takes up two fields, an indoor arena and a dirt track. Regular racers may notice (and appreciate) a change this time with the course running anti-clockwise - and with an uphill start/finish straight. Full-height hurdles will feature again (for the youth riders and older), and the exit from the bomb-hole will involve a clamber up a steep bank. You can browse the course on Google MyMaps, and choose the layers that you want to see.

The cafe will be running full steam all day Sunday, serving up a variety of hot and cold food and drink, including chips, pasta, soup and various savoury bites - plus cake of course!

If you're interested in racing, please head over to the Eastern CX League page for more info.
