Push Sport Cross (round 14)

Location: Reydon IP18 6SD, United Kingdom

Many riders were looking for a cleaner, calmer day of cyclo-cross racing after the previous day's mud-fest at Redgrave, but it mostly wasn't to be. Sporadic icy showers hit a few races and chilled competitors to the bone. The course itself, designed by Tim Bonnett at a new venue, held up very well and there was only a bit of slippiness to contend with. Vet40-49 race

Roger Maidment (East London Velo) and Mike Mooney (CC Hackney) stormed away early and held their positions to the end. I had a race-long tussle with Dan Howe (Wolsey RC) and Mark Wellsted (Amis Velo) but managed to stay with them and drop them both in the last lap. I ripped my skinsuit shoulder when bumping heavily against a tree in the twisty woodland section, so will need to do some sort of repair job before next weekend's National Trophy event at Ipswich!
