Eastern Cross 2013 Round 6: Amis Velo Hillyfields Supacross

Scattered showers in the days leading up to the event made for some very muddy and tricky riding. The early racers (under 10s and under 12s) also had to put up with heavy rain, but there were still lots of competitors in both events. The race marshals also had to endure the miserable conditions, without the benefit of being able to move around either, so well done to them.

I had a tough time in the seniors race. My lack of technical ability was obvious in the slippery conditions, and I guess that the tread on the Challenge Griffo tyres just wasn't sufficient. I had also given blood a few days before, so was probably below par fitness-wise too.

Thanks to Fergus Muir for the photos from the seniors race, and for the photo of Rowan Baker.
