This cycling movie is on my 'might watch' list: Breaking Away. Its listing on IMDB gives a brief plotline of a boy in Indiana, obsessed with Italian culture and wanting to ride eventually for an Italian cycle squad.

It's a coming of age movie (hopefully of the same pace and thoughtfulness as the excellent Stand By Me) with amateur cycling trials and tribulations; got to be watched!
