We've decided to splash out a bit on a higher spec computer than usual, to replace our aging P3-500 laptop, 13.1" screen and all. The processor in particular is an AMD dual-core X2, and we're also going for RAID-1 (mirroring) using two SATA-II (3Gbps interface) drives. The monitor is a widescreen 20" TFT panel, and along with the graphics card (Nvidea 6600) will go in the lounge for our viewing pleasure.
The new PC is for office use, and should be good for many years to come - probably 5 years for the processor, and maybe a RAM upgrade after 3 years.
