29 March 2013: Great Yarmouth CC 10-mile time trial

If you want to get non-blurry pictures of time triallists (and you're not a terribly good photographer), then being a helper on the start line is a pretty good option. I took these pictures at around the 30 seconds to go mark, as each competitor's bike was held whilst getting themselves clipped in and ready for the off. I was also playing traffic warden, letting each rider know whether traffic was approaching from behind them. Most of the time the road was clear, but there were a few times when the rider needed to keep tight to the left because of an oncoming car or lorry.

Weather conditions: cold (just above freezing), sunny, rising easterly breeze. The winning solo time was 21.58, by Jim Burgess (Anglia Velo). The Team Velo Velocity trio of Paul Jay, Geoff Frost and Dave Staff took the team prize. Great Yarmouth CC riders took a clean sweep of the five handicap awards, with Jay Lingwood taking top spot. Andre Dyason (Team Swift) was fastest veteran at 22:30, and Chris Nudds (CC Breckland) was fastest vet on standard. Tri-Anglia rider Becky Schofield's time of 26:32 was fastest of the women, and Jayne Williams (Stowmarket & District CC) was fastest woman on handicap. Sally Withey (VC Norwich) was fastest veteran woman on std.

Thanks very much for the pics but also thanks to the organiser and all the marshals. Another great what has been regarded as the season opener :)
