It was very windy and very cold: winds of 30 mph or so and hailstones falling
occasionally. Only three riders got under the hour on this undulating course
in the Midlands (no climbs as such) with lots of awkward turns.

A bit of a disastrous day all round really! To start with it was blowing a
gale, and what should come along but a great big downpour! Then Jo got swiped
by a car that was pulling out (thankfully no bones broken, but a lovely dent
in the car). Then John got an insta-puncture just as he was catching Leo
rider Martin Pyne (who had stopped for about half a minute to see if Jo was
alright...).
Ah well, there's always the next time...

Less than half the field started in this evening event, mostly scared off
by the rain and spray conditions on the busy A11. John and Sam stuck it
out, however, and were rewarded with PBs on the quickly-drying dual
carriageway.

This first 100-mile TT for Adam put him just inside five hours, including
an unscheduled call of nature. John had to pull out through knee pain.
Weather conditions were warm (in the twenties even first thing), but a stiff
breeze blowing up the A11 towards Norwich meant 9-mile headwind slogs and less
help in return on the return leg.

A calm morning for once, although a bit misty for the early starters.
A PB for John, once again riding a 98" fixed (and suffering for it).
Dave is showing promise, but has yet to return to his form of 1996.

For once this was an absolutely beautiful day, with a temperature of around 14 degrees C, and just a calm breeze. Not surprisingly, the course record fell by almost three minutes.
Dave was unable to start because of a squash ball injury, and Adam was complaining of aching limbs.
John was well pleased with his time, especially considering his exertions
in the BUSA cyclo-cross the day before.

The only UEA riders here this time were John, Heather and Jo, riding in CC Breckland colours. The revised course (due to roadworks) was interestingly hilly, and certainly proved a test of a team's ability to stick together. The twisty village route also tended to split the riders.
The weather was basically fine - overcast, with a light breeze, and
temperatures around 9 degrees.
