I spent Saturday afternoon until Thursday morning helping out with the event. I was the main driver in a special forces team, which meant that we dropped into various controls that needed a bit of extra manpower or logistics support. Helping at Writtle went ok, as did Louth on Sunday and into Monday morning. By midday though, we were notified that the event was paused due to weather warnings in northern England (Storm Floris). There were hundreds of riders being held at Malton so we went there, working hard to keep the kitchen going. By the evening the event had been cancelled, so we stayed on at Malton to help with setting the riders off (southbound, for Hessle) the next day. We then moved down to Boston as that was expected to be swamped with riders as they continued to head south. That turned out to be the case, and we spent Tuesday evening through to Wednesday afternoon helping out there. We went back to Writtle on Thursday morning to drop off some kit and go our separate ways. All in all, quite an adventure, stressful at times, and glad to have helped out!
