The 2016 Freethorpe '10

Taking place on at 11AM

Location: Freethorpe, United Kingdom

This was my first (and probably last) 10-mile running race, starting at Freethorpe Village Hall and meandering down to the Reedham water-front before looping back to the start. Callum Stanforth (Ryston Runners) put in the winning time of 56:01, and first woman was Emma Patel with 1:02:48. Full results on the chiptiminguk website, and you can also check out the Freethorpe Ten segment on Strava.

I had a really healthy start, comfortably maintaining a sub 4:00/km pace for the first few miles at around 170bpm, before hip pain set in and I struggled to hold a 5:00/km pace. I got a 10k PB of 41:07, which was really satisfying.

Mixing in a bit of cycling

I rode a steady 21 miles down to Freethorpe, keeping my legs fresh for the race, and put the pace high for the ride home.
