With many of the big names not even entered (defending BUSA 50-mile champion Jim Henderson, past 50-mile champion Nic Hutchins, BAR leader James Gilfillan) the pressure might have been eased on the others. This didn't stop Duncan Alexander and Stuart Lemanksi (Cambridge) posting super-fast times of 1:51:44 and 1:51:50 respectively.
