Windows 8 and the HP fingerprint scanner

Warning: HP's validity sensor software does NOT work in Windows 8, according to Microsoft's Upgrade Assistant. If you upgrade to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, you will in all likelihood be unable to swipe your finger as a means of logging in - and will therefore have to join everyone else struggling to click or swipe patterns on the screen.
