The IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) is examining the possibility of upgrading the building’s thermal performance, reducing overall energy consumption and carbon emissions, and improving building controls, using leading edge approaches and materials including renewable technologies. I hope this project stretches to re-use as well as energy-efficient installations; we mustn't forget the energy and resource that goes into product manufacture.
