Five-Seater Family Car: Choices Choices

By 27 Oct 2005 | Comment

We are looking for a family runabout with features in approximately this order:

  • Reliable
  • Economical
  • Low depreciation
It is to be at least an estate, maybe an MPV (7-seater people carrier).

We are assuming that we'll be buying used, but might consider new or even lease if the long-term price is right.

So which one(s) to consider? From our limited observations recently we have seen the following estates:

  • Ford Focus
  • Ford Mondeo
  • Vauxhall Astra
  • Vauxhall Vectra
...and the following MPVs:
  • Fiat Multipla
  • Fiat Ulysse
  • Ford Galaxy
  • Honda FR-V
  • Kia Sedona
  • Mazda 5
  • Mercedes-Benz Vaneo
  • Peugeot 807
  • Renault Kangoo
  • Renault Scenic
  • Renault Espace
  • Seat Alhambra
  • Toyota Verso
  • Toyota Yaris
  • Vauxhall Zafira
  • Volkswagen Sharan
  • Volkswagen Touran
So, which one to get? Are there any others to consider? Your advice is much appreciated!
