Well adding counter to your site or blog is always a good idea.It lets you track the number of visits or hits on your website.It provide a wealth of useful information that give insights regarding website performance and help a website owner make improvements.And i think using PHP script for this is the best because PHP hits counter are open source and do not depend on browser configuration that's why they track visitors perfectly.
