Mas dels Ponts barrica 2002 tasted

A delicious and strong red, and quite coarse. Highly reccommended!

From the bottle:
Capcanes is a small village in the mountainous Catalan countryside inland from Tarragona around Priorato. For many centuries growers have cultivated Garnacha and Carinena grapes on steep terraces. Nowadays to make Mas dels Ponts we take fruit from old wines of these two indigenous varieties and blend with Tempranillo and a little more recently introduced Cabernet Sauvignon.
Aged in American and French oak barrels to give the wine a roundness and warmth, Mas dels Ponts has an attractive character with its ripe brambly and plummy fruit.
