The UK Government's White Paper on Energy

Alistair Darling of the DTI today released The Energy Review, looking at energy production issues in the short to medium term. It includes the usual rhetoric on renewable energy, and suggests that nuclear energy should be given some priority too.

The paper called for a big increase in the amount of energy generated from renewable sources such as wind, the sun and the sea, from the current four per cent to around 20 per cent.

The BBC has produced an Electricity Calculator to let you decide what the UK's energy mix should be by 2020
