Low-Carbon Grants Explained

The Energy Saving Trust has a low-carbon funding FAQ that outlines how the funding will be allocated and when applications will be accepted. 24th April 2006 is the date, and householders will be able to claim up to £1000 per kW installed - up to a maximum of 30% ex-VAT.

Interestingly, they also offer a grant for wood-fuelled boiler systems - up to £1500, and 30% max.

They also stipulate these minimum requirements:

  • You have a minimum of 270mm of loft insulation
  • You have installed cavity wall insulation (if you have cavity walls)
  • You are using low energy light bulbs in all appropriate light fittings
  • You have installed basic controls for your heating system to include a room thermostat and a programmer or timer.
