Bus Fire in North Walsham

By 05 Jul 2008 | Comment
Yesterday evening, around 5:30PM, we saw a huge plume of black smoke coming from the direction of town and the air started to smell quite bad. The kids were keen to see what was up, so we ran up the road and up and down a few more streets until we came across the burnt-out shell of a single-decker Sanders coach. It had come to a stop in Millfield Road, just at the mini-roundabout heading towards the newsagents. Police and a fire crew were on scene, but no ambulance - which implies that nobody had been injured.

Lots of residents were hanging around, which was making things a little bit awkward for the services and for passing traffic. Just as we were leaving, a second fire engine turned up and stopped right on the mini-roundabout, preventing any more traffic from passing close by.
