Effect of Sponsored Trending Topics

By 23 Jun 2010 | Comment
Here are a couple of follower graphs (courtesy of TwitterCounter.com) for Disney-Pixar and Coca-Cola, both of whom have been sponsoring trending topics recently.

Disney's 6-figure follower count appears to have been bumped up by around 20000, whereas Coca-Cola is still just moving steadily upwards. Coca-cola's promotion only appeared to be live (in the UK at least) while the England World Cup match was on, and it now stands at just under 35000 followers (only slightly higher than what TwitterCounter's growth curve suggests).
